Hollywood star Chris Pine is on a mission to find permanent homes for two dogs he saved from euthanasia last year. The 44-year-old actor and director is currently fostering Max, a 2-year-old Shepherd/Husky mix, and Jack, a 3-year-old Mastiff mix, while actively seeking adopters for these lovable canines.
Pine rescued the dogs just hours before they were scheduled to be put down. Since then, he has supported them through multiple surgeries and months of training to prepare them for their forever homes. Now, Pine is collaborating with The Animal Rescue Mission in Los Angeles to find suitable adopters for Max and Jack.
In an exclusive interview, Pine expressed his passion for the cause, stating, "We have such a problem with adoption in Los Angeles and such a problem in the shelters in Los Angeles, it's really horrifying. So I'm a big promoter of adopting, especially here, because we need all the dogs off the streets that we can."
The "Don't Worry Darling" star, who owns two rescue dogs himself, emphasized the urgency of the situation. Since last July, over 23,000 dogs have entered the Los Angeles County shelter system, with nearly 20% being euthanized. Thousands more face a similar fate if not adopted soon.
To encourage potential adopters, Pets Global has stepped in to offer a year's supply of their premium Zignature dog food for whoever provides a loving home to Max or Jack. This initiative aims to address the declining adoption rates across the country.
Both Max and Jack are described as friendly with children and other dogs, making them suitable for various family settings. The organizations involved hope to find permanent homes for these canines by October 16, marking one year since their rescue.
Pine's efforts highlight the critical need for pet adoption in Los Angeles and beyond. By using his platform to raise awareness, the actor hopes to inspire others to consider adoption and help alleviate the ongoing shelter crisis.
