In a heartwarming turn of events that seems straight out of a movie, an elderly Labrador named Daisy has finally returned home to her Norfolk family after being stolen from their garden eight years ago.

Rita and Philip Potter, both in their 80s, experienced an emotional reunion with their beloved pet on February 6th when the RSPCA brought Daisy back to their Old Buckenham home. The moment was filled with tears of joy as Daisy immediately recognized her family, wagging her tail furiously and nuzzling against Rita.

"Daisy you are home," whispered a tearful Rita as she embraced her long-lost companion. The Potters had never given up hope during the eight-year separation, keeping Daisy's photo on their mantelpiece and launching extensive social media campaigns that reached global audiences.

The dog's theft in November 2017 made headlines when witnesses reported seeing her forcibly taken by suspected backyard breeders. Despite police involvement and support from actor Tom Hardy in spreading awareness, Daisy's whereabouts remained unknown until recently.

The breakthrough came when RSPCA Inspector Kim Walters discovered the 13-year-old Labrador in Weston-Super-Mare during a routine investigation. A microchip scan revealed her true identity and original owners. The dog was found with several untreated health issues, suggesting she had been used for breeding during her absence.

After receiving care at the Brent Knoll RSPCA centre, Daisy made the 250-mile journey home. She has since settled back into family life, enjoying new beds, toys, and endless attention from family members, including the Potters' granddaughter who, at age five, had wished for Daisy's return as her Christmas present.

The story highlights the importance of microchipping pets and serves as a testament to never losing hope. While Daisy's advanced age means she may have limited time left, the Potters are determined to make her remaining years comfortable and filled with love.
